Exciting opportunity for an R & D Engineer to join an innovative company that is developing the next generation of food storage systems that is reimaging the way we store food!
This passionate team is building systems for the household that use technology that will make food last longer, help people manage what they have, get the food they want and reduce waste caused by our food system.
Currently, they are seeking an R & D Engineer to join their collaborative team. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a growing company at a very crucial time in their business as they work to make significant advancements in technology.
In this role, you will assemble, test and manage internally designed systems for scientific testing and customer-facing alpha/beta programs. This includes working with engineering to understand the current system design, and develop your own process of assembly, validation, calibration. You will also work to find design upgrades (mechanical, electrical or software) and create prototypes.
Once customer-facing devices are designed, you will work with engineering and market research teams to develop a production schedule for devices that will go into alpha and beta programs, and ensure they are operational and meet defined specs.
This role is a great fit for someone who is detail oriented, has experience designing solutions to electrical or mechanical problems and is skilled in fabricating prototypes.
R & D Engineer Responsibilities:
- Assemble, test and manage internally designed systems
- Develop the processes and workflows for producing validated subassemblies and full assemblies, from assembly to calibration
- Influence engineering and design based on learnings from prototyping, assembly, operations, and maintenance
- Prototype new electrical or mechanical design upgrades as a proof of concept, in collaboration with the engineering team
- Perform light fabrication, working with soldering, contacts crimping, creating silicone seals, and more
- Coordinate with the CEO, scientific team, and engineering to create and manage a well-defined production schedule
- Manage components inventory, and source additional inventory from supply chain as needed to meet the production schedule
- Work with engineering to develop plans for cascading system upgrades out to the live fleet of devices
R & D Engineer Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with prototyping, robotics, or hardware engineering
- Electro-mechanical engineering experience
- Experience in electro-mechanical assembly, integration or mechanical assembly experience
- Experience with standard tools and basic fabrication equipment and techniques, including drilling, and basic metalwork
- Eagerness to find design flaws, develop creative solutions, and create prototypes to demonstrate them
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong project management skills, ability to keep yourself focused and motivated, and to multi-task effectively
