Welcome

Welcome to TERRA Staffing Group! This employee handbook is intended to help answer common questions and will inform you of important company policies. It also tells you what we can expect of each other in our employment relationship. If you have any questions about your employment with TERRA, please contact us. We are always here to help and believe that your success is our success.

Your Success is Our Success!

You've joined an award-winning staffing company that works with many of the finest employers in the Pacific Northwest. We are daily committed to exceeding our clients' expectations and remaining their first choice in staffing services. While on assignment you will be representing TERRA through your work performance. Working together we can ensure our clients get the best possible service and that will mean more JOBS for you.

Our goal is to build a mutually beneficial working relationship with you and help you to be successful as a TERA employee.

Where will I be working?

We will offer you job assignments that are conveniently located and a good match with your skills, experience and shift availability. Job assignments may last for a few days, weeks or even months. The expected length of the job will be discussed with you prior to each assignment.

Your Employment with TERRA

Your employment status with TERRA is "at will." Any position you accept as a temporary employee will be an interim position. Upon successful completion of each assignment, TERRA will attempt to find another assignment for you but we cannot guarantee we will be able to do so.

Please contact us as soon as you know your job assignment is ending to inform us of your availability for another assignment. After that, contact your local TERRA office at least weekly to inform us of our availability and to check on current job opportunities.

If you do not contact us at least weekly, we will presume you are unavailable and your file will be deactivated. If you decide to return to active status, please call and notify us of your availability for work. At that time we will inform you of any additional information or steps required to reactivate your file.

Daily Call-in Expectations

Your TERRA supervisor will let you know of any special call-in expectations. On some assignments you may be required to call in ONE HOUR before start time every day you are on assignment to confirm you are reporting to work that day. You will be able to learn of any schedule changes and help us to assure our client company that you will be at work that day. Being on time for work and maintaining good attendance is essential to be successful as a TERRA employee.

How and When will I Be Paid?

You will be paid an hourly wage while on assignment. Pay rates can vary from job to job. You must report accurately all hours worked including any overtime (over 40 hours worked in one week). Overtime is paid at time and one-half.

While on the job you will record your hours either on a TERRA timecard, client timesheet, or by using a time clock. Different client jobsites may have different ways for you to record your hours worked. You will be told before you begin your assignment how to record your time while working there.

Keep an accurate record of your hours on your timecard or jobsite time clock. Falsifying time cards or punching another person's timecard may be grounds for termination.

Your TERRA representative will tell you the proper way to complete and turn in your timecard to ensure you get paid on time each week.

Timecards are due into our office by 8:00 a.m. Monday. Failure to punch in/out properly or turning in a late or incomplete timecard may result in a delay in getting paid for that week.

Payday is every Friday and you will receive your pay electronically either by:

  1. Direct Deposit into your bank account, OR
  2. PayCard, for those employees who do not have a bank account. A PayCard works just like a debit card. A TERRA representative will provide you with complete details on your pay options.

A statement of your earnings will be e-mailed to you on Friday for every week you work. If you do not have an e-mail address you can request a copy of your earnings statement from your local TERRA office.

Be sure to report any change of address to your local TERRA office so you will receive your annual W-4 form without delay.

What Employee Benefits are Available?

Six (6) paid holidays: New years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. To qualify, you must work 584 hours within the 15 weeks prior to the holiday and be on an active assignment and work no less than 1 hour during the week of the holiday.
